Punch Out List

Over the next few weeks we will be working on completing jobs on my “punch out” list.  This list is made up of things that need to get done on the course other than the normal routine mowing and maintenance.  In the springtime this list can be sometimes overwhelming.  We fit these tasks in after the first morning jobs are completed and then after our lunch break.  Some of the jobs currently on this list are: edging and mulching beds and trees on the golf course, planting our annual flowers that just arrived, checking depths of sand in bunkers and adding it if necessary, edging yardage plates and sprinkler heads in fairways and tees, spraying weeds in both flower beds and in the rough, hand mowing all lake banks, fence line and around trees, tee divots, sanding and seeding the driving range tees, and edging cart paths.  As you can see there is a lot to accomplish on top of our normal routine maintenance.  We have completed a lot of these tasks already and we will keep working diligently to get the rest of our list completed.

One topic that was brought up in our last green committee meeting was ground under repair.  As many of you may have noticed, there are a lot of stump holes on the course that have been seeded and strawed.  It would be quite time consuming for Kevin and his staff to go out and paint every one as ground under repair.  Until the stump holes are completely filled in and there is no more straw present, please play any strawed area on the course as GUR and you may take relief from it without penalty.
