As many of you already know, my assistant Chris Anderson accepted a job at The Greenbrier on the Old White Course. We wish him all the best and he will be missed. My current assistant Dave Norris has moved up to fill Chris’ shoes as lead assistant. Joining Dave is Kyle Arnold. Kyle was in Florida for the past 5 years working at Bonita Bay. Kyle started his career here at Heritage from 2008 to 2010. Kyle is a great addition to our staff and be sure to say hello when you see him on the course.
April brought us ideal working conditions. We were able to finish off the landscaping around the clubhouse, sod most all of the stump holes and various other repair areas around bunkers.
We planted 25 new trees on the course as well. Most of the trees were planted on the left of number 4 to provide better cover to the houses along the left side of the hole. Other trees were planted along the right of 10 as well.
We will be replacing the concrete along number 5 tee box in the coming weeks. It will be 120 foot section running from the ball washer bed to between the white and silver tees. We hope to have it torn out and prepped for new concrete in 2 days and hopefully will be poured on the third day.
Lastly, we will be installing a new drain line by the south chipping green. The trees along the dump have clogged the existing 6″ drain completely, not allowing water to exit the area. A contractor will be coming in to bulldoze the dump to get back to existing grade. From there we will cut out part of the asphalt and dig in a new 8″ solid wall tile that will run to the creek behind the dump. This pipe will be sealed at every connection point making it near impossible for roots to clog the pipe again. We plan to start work on this in the next few weeks.
