The 2018 Golf season will be here before we know it. The grounds crew here at Heritage has spent the winter season on a few projects around the course and will have a couple more starting very soon. Over winter we removed dead trees from the course. The majority of them out of play in tree lines and no-mow areas of the course. The most noticeable change will be on Hole #4. There were four willows on the edge of the lake, in a now-mow area out of play. They were mostly dead and starting to fall apart, very unsightly and not safe. All four were removed and the hole has a much cleaner look to it. All other trees removed were Ash trees. The course still has a decent amount of ash throughout the back 9. We will continue to remove these on an as needed basis to keep our course safe and looking good.
There has been a change on our staff for the upcoming season. Kyle, my assistant and employee for the last 2 seasons has moved on. Kyle accepted a job as an irrigation specialist for the city of Columbus. I wish him the best of luck and want to thank him for all the hard work he has done for our golf club. He will still be around from time to time. He plans to continue to help out on weekends. In his place, I have promoted two of my foremen. Korey Lenox and Ben Donahue will take the role as co-assistants. Both Korey and Ben have been on our staff for some time, Korey as been working with us for four years, going on five. They are excited for the new season and looking forward to their new responsibilities. We have a lot of crew members returning for this upcoming season which should get everything off to a good start!
Pictures will be posted as things dry up and projects are completed.
