Spring has finally arrived, unfortunately the warm weather hasn’t. The course came out of winter nicely with no major damage to the turf. The crew has been working hard to get everything in shape and course conditions will only get better with warmer temps.
Over the next couple of months we will be getting multiple loads of bunker sand delivered. Sand will be added to the green side bunkers and a few fairway bunkers that are in desperate need. My staff knows that the bunkers were a major concern last season and they will make sure to properly maintain them throughout the year.
The new chipping green by the north range tee will be opening this spring. It is in great condition and it’s a wonderful addition to our practice facility. The new green was grown in last summer with the same varieties of bentgrass as our existing practice and course greens. (A1, A4, and Alpha cultivars) This green will be treated exactly as we do the course greens and putting green by the clubhouse. Both putting and chipping will be allowed. Please remember to fix any ball marks! Bump-n-run and short chips should be the only type of chipping done in this area. The south end chipping green will be open Tuesday-Sunday for any other type of practice.
The new range mats are top of the line quality and should be the only surfaced used when the grass tee is closed. You can place a tee in the mat itself without damaging it, allowing you to hit a driver from the mat! It’s designed to do so. There is no longer a need to step off the mat and tee up in the grass. The grass practice tees will be opening soon! I am giving the weather a chance to change before we do so.
I’d like to wish everyone a happy spring and good luck out there this season! Golf is back and we hope you are as excited as we are!
